Funny that I just mentioned Grindhouse’s soundtrack, because until the vocals kick in, “Always on the Telephone” sounds like the kind of driving alone at night music Tarantino loves to use in his films. Once the vocals do enter the mix, it takes on a bit more of an Essex Green feel — possibly because Jeff Baron is in both bands, but shhh.
Aaaand here’s my favorite Ladybug Transistor track while we’re on the subject. It’s from The Arbemarle Sound, which I must suggest that you pick up if you don’t already own it.
